Wilmcote Lock Rebuild

JJF Ltd was appointed by Kier, on behalf of the Canal & River Trust, to deliver £750,000 of emergency civil engineering and brickwork works for the rebuild of Wilmcote Lock. The project was initiated following structural failure of the canal lock wall, requiring immediate intervention to stabilise the asset and prevent further deterioration. Rapid mobilisation was essential, with JJF Ltd deploying experienced teams to secure the site and commence urgent repair works within a live canal environment.

The scope involved dismantling unstable sections, undertaking structural repairs, and carefully reconstructing the lock wall using appropriate materials and traditional techniques to match the existing historic fabric. Working within a sensitive heritage setting, JJF Ltd ensured all works were completed to the highest standards of safety, quality, and craftsmanship. The successful rebuild restored the integrity and functionality of the lock, demonstrating JJF Ltd’s expertise in delivering time-critical works on historic waterways infrastructure.
